1.1 Call for Co-Chairs for the #OER18 conference

We are seeking experienced co-chairs for the 2018 Conference Committee of the 9th OER Conference, who will play a major role in planning and facilitating the conference, which will take place in April 2018.

1.2 Blended Learning Essentials course - new dates and new courses

The Blended Learning Essentials course for the Vocational Education and Training sector, commissioned by the Ufi Charitable Trust, will be offered again this year. This popular free course starts again on 20 February, and two new courses have been added to the existing two. The course also offers a route to CMALT accreditation.

1.3 OER17 conference registration now open

Attending OER17 presents a fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in open educational practice, expert or novice, to share, learn and debate ‘The Politics of Open’ and consider what needs to be done to overcome barriers and move open education forwards.

The programme schedule will be made available as soon as possible; it will consist of two action-packed days with a choice of strands and sessions as well as keynotes from Maha Bali, Lucy Crompton-Reid and Diana Arce.

2.1 FELTAG SIG webinar: The Learning Lab: Making use of emerging technology to support digital literacy-in-action, 24 January, 12.30 - 13.30

The Learning Lab at Dundee and Angus College is an innovative space enabling staff and learners to explore new ways of learning and teaching with technology. The webinar will cover how Dundee and Angus College are supporting 21st century learning through the Learning Lab, and give examples of how this prepares students for employment and life-long learning.

2.2 OER17: The Politics of Open, Resource for London, 5 - 6 April 2017

OER17 presents an opportunity for open practitioners, activists, educators and policy makers to come together as a community to reflect on The Politics of Open and to discuss challenges and strengths, priorities and changes we want to effect. The conference will be chaired by social and educational technologist and Wikimedia UK Trustee Josie Fraser, and Alek Tarkowski, Director of Centrum Cyfrowe, co-founder and coordinator of Creative Commons Poland.

2.3 VocTech Impact 2017 funding

Funding is being being offered for projects on new learning tools, using genuinely innovative methods to raise skill levels for a significant number of learners. Organisations who have well developed ideas for using digital technology for innovative learning delivery can apply for funding of £150,000 to £300,000, for projects of up to 18 months duration.

2.4 Webinar: Using interactive tools for group discussion in large lectures and to produce peer-led teaching, 17 January 2017, 13.00

In this webinar run by Meetoo, Dr Neil Pickles from the University of Chester will detail how he has used Meetoo to increase engagement in learning activities with undergraduate students. In this webinar he will showcase some example of using Meetoo relevant to both small and large group teaching.

2.5 BYOD4L open online course, 16 - 20 January 2017

BYOD4L is an open, online collaborative event with the aim of enabling colleagues from across the UK and beyond to connect, communicate, collaborate, curate and create over the week. BYOD4l provides an, informal CPD opportunity for anyone interested in using technology more effectively in learning and teaching and indeed in everyday life. Each day will end with a tweetchat from 20.00 - 21.00.

2.6 Team Based Learning Symposium, 19 January 2017

This event provides an opportunity to discuss the vision and priorities of the European Board of the Team Based Learning Collaborative (TBLC), network with other TBL practitioners, provide opportunities for troubleshooting and sharing of best practice, and discuss developmental needs and opportunities. It is aimed at current TBL practitioners or those are planning to use TBL and know something about it.

2.7 Blended Learning Consortium regional meetings, Feb/Mar 2017

2.8 Accelerating Digital Transformation in Higher Education, Senate House, London, 7 March 2017

2.9 EUROCALL 2017, University of Southampton, 23 - 26 August 2017 Call for Papers

The programme will include individual papers, symposia, workshops, presentations on EU-funded projects, and posters. EUROCALL (European Association for Computer Assisted Language Learning) conferences bring together educators, researchers, PhD students, administrators, designers of software and language learning systems, policy makers and other professionals involved in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) around the globe.

2.11 Nottingham Law School Centre for Legal Education Conference 2017: Legal Education, Legal Practice and Technology, Nottingham Trent University, 16 - 17 June

Third biennial conference, and fifth anniversary of the Centre for Legal Education at Nottingham Law School. The 2017 conference is entitled ‘Legal Education, Legal Practice and Technology’.

2.12 Call for Contributions: Change Agents' Network Conference, supported by Jisc, University of Exeter, 21 - 22 April 2017

CAN2017 will be showcasing practice from universities and colleges across the UK on how they are working in partnership with students. We are looking for staff and students to share specific examples of how they are working in partnership, how students are working as change agents or as co-researchers to improve their educational experience. 2.13 Coaching offer

Jane Brotchie is offering reduced-rate coaching in exchange for feedback while she is in training to be an accredited Co-Active Coach, alongside her work as a Learning Designer. She is offering a limited number of places at a 'pay-what-you-can-afford' rate in return for feedback and referrals. She is also offering one free place to anyone who is a graduating student, on a low income or in between jobs.
