JOB TITLE: Press Assistant

APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: 08/01/2017

SALARY: £21,000 per annum

JOB DESCRIPTION: Are you passionate about culture and science? Would you like to use your unparalleled communication skills as part of a busy and ambitious press and PR team?

The Science Museum in London is looking for an enthusiastic and talented candidate, with a passion for communications and some experience working in a press office or PR agency environment, to join their communications team.

You will help develop and deliver creative and high profile communications campaigns for a wide range of Science Museum exhibitions, projects and events, from an exhibition about the 500-year history of robots to the world's most spectacular new interactive gallery, Wonderlab.

You will share a broad range of press office duties, including maintaining the press contacts database, updating Museum social media channels, organising events and managing media filming requests within the Museum. You will use your creativity and writing skills to communicate effectively with journalists, audiences, stakeholders and staff, and work effectively to manage projects on your own and as part of a team.

You will bring with you some experience of working in a busy communications environment and have the planning, persuasion and "selling in" skills necessary to help the communications team deliver first-rate press and PR campaigns.

Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required as part of your core hours.

This is a contract role for 1 year within the Science Museum External Affairs team.

PLEASE NOTE: All written tests and first round interviews will be conducted at the Science Museum on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th January 2016. Candidates must be available for interview on these dates if shortlisted.
