Subject: Job vacancy at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

With apologies for cross-posting, please see below for details of a current vacancy at Trinity Laban.

LIBRARIAN (ENQUIRIES & CATALOGUING), JERWOOD LIBRARY OF THE PERFORMING ARTS

Contract: Permanent, part-time, 14 hrs per week (0.4 FTE)

Salary: Full-time equivalent £28,882 - £34,660 p.a. (incl. LWA) pro-rata

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is a forward thinking, contemporary and world-class Higher Education Institution with a vision to redefine the conservatoire for the 21st century. At the leading edge of music and dance training, it provides specialist education of the highest quality, which reflects the increasingly collaborative world of artistic practice and supports the lifelong career development of students and professional performing artists.

The Jerwood Library of the Performing Arts, which supports teaching, learning, performance and research within the Faculty of Music, seeks to appoint a part-time Librarian to join its small team of professional staff. You will assist the Head Librarian in the planning, organisation, development and promotion of Library services.

Key responsibilities (jointly with two other Librarians) include responsibility for the specialised library enquiry service, cataloguing printed music, books, AV and archival material. You will also contribute as part of the Library’s user education team.

A graduate (preferably with a degree or equivalent in music), with a postgraduate qualification in librarianship, you will have experience of working in a library (preferably an academic and/or music library) and MARC21 cataloguing according to AACR2. With an excellent knowledge of music (and music reference sources), you will have strong communication, interpersonal and IT skills as well as a demonstrable ability to work as part of a small team.

Experience of enquiry work, cataloguing printed music and sound recordings and teaching information skills is desirable. An understanding of the DCRM(B) and ISAD(G) cataloguing standards and reading knowledge of at least one western European language, in addition to English, would be advantageous.
