agree.
Reference
to facts and events is mostly accurate, although the set
up is much more light-hearted than a documentary
(sometimes too light-hearted, I find). Characterisation
is also very good.
It
cannot be watched on RaiPlay if you are not based in
Italy. It will probably come out on DVD soon.
It
would be great to invite PIF to the Italian Institute in
London, and perhaps somewhere else in our UK
universities.

Finally - a RAI miniseries that makes you happy to have
paid your canone:
La mafia uccide solo d'estate, for those of you who
remember the film, is now a made-for-TV miniseries. PIF,
Pierfrancesco Diliberto, inimitable voice over and
ideatore is also part of the script-writing team.
The ensemble cast is half made up of children -- who are
incredible little actors! Are they all Sicilian (and even
so, still great actors!) or did they learn that accent and
the gestures and facial expressions? Hats off to the
director! How refreshing to see great writing, great
acting, and important subject matter that is full of
spunti per la riflessione... This would be a great
teaching tool, a text rich, ready for all kinds of
analysis!
