**Call for Sessions **
Geographies of Justice Research Group (GJRG)
RGS-IBG Annual International Conference, London
Tuesday 29 August to Friday 1 September 2017
The GJRG invites proposals for sessions for the RGS-IBG Annual Conference 2017. Professor Sarah Radcliffe is the next conference Chair with the theme
of ‘‘Decolonizing geographical knowledges: opening geography out to the world’-
www.rgs.org/AC2017Theme
The theme aims to
‘query implicitly universal claims to knowledges associated with the west, and further interrogate how such knowledges continue to marginalize and discount places, people and knowledges across the world.…’.
This theme offers some exciting opportunities for geographies of justice research and we would particularly welcome sessions exploring:
·
‘Practising’ justice and scholar-activism
·
Knowledge production and justice
·
Multi-scalar inequalities and injustices
·
Decolonising justice
·
Crossing the disciplinary divide in justice research
However, we are also very open to sessions that engage with geographies of justice more broadly. A summary of the group’s interests can be found at
https://research.ncl.ac.uk/geographiesofjustice/
Sessions may take the form of presented papers, panels, practitioner forums, discussions or workshops; we particularly welcome innovative sessions
and format.
Proposals for sessions should include a title and abstract (300 words), the names and institutional affiliations of the organisers, the planned format of the session and number of timeslots sought (each timeslot is 100 minutes). This should be sent to the GJRG Secretary, Sally Lloyd-Evans ([log in to unmask]) by Thursday 22nd December 2016.
If sponsorship is provided, session organisers will have until
17 February 2017 to provide the full details of the session (with all proposed papers/presenters) for final submission to the RGS-IBG. Detailed information and the session proposal form can be found here: http://www.rgs.org/WhatsOn/ConferencesAndSeminars/Annual+International+Conference/Call+for+sessions+papers+and+posters/How+to+organise+a+session.htm
Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or queries.
Best wishes,
Sally
