The Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit (CEU) within the DPHPC (one of Europe's leading academic departments of population health sciences) is an internationally recognised interdisciplinary group currently comprising >60 staff and students. We are seeking a data manager within the CEU whose main responsibility will be to help maintain complex databases for epidemiological studies.  

Working within an established data management team with existing systems, the post holder will collate, clean and harmonise data from various sources to develop and maintain databases for epidemiological studies.  The post holder will be expected to distribute subsets of information from the master databases on the instructions of the PI, track different versions of data releases sent to users and provide regular updates of data to users, as instructed. 

Ideally suited to someone seeking a new challenge, the post-holder will have: (1) Relevant degree [1st / 2(i)] or post graduate qualification in mathematics or similar or equivalent experience, and; (2) Some experience of programming, preferably in a structured programming language such as SAS, R, Perl or STATA.  The post-holder should have a systematic and rigorous approach to work with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Appointment at research associate is dependent on having a PhD (or equivalent experience), including those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD. Where a PhD has yet to be awarded appointment will initially be made at research assistant and amended to research associate when the PhD is awarded.
