Hi all

I’m Moodle at present. I’ve experienced Turnitin at three institutions now (Moodle Basic, Direct v1 and v2) and it hasn’t exactly filled my life with joy. I am warming to the idea of using the VLE’s robust tools for submission, marking and feedback and just using Turnitin (or similar) for the similarity report.

I happened to be at CanvasCon a couple of weeks ago and a company called Unplag were there. I was surprised to see they also offer a service for individuals – students for example. I’ve not looked in any detail tho’.

Kind regards

Hi Mari Cruz,

One product which is not mentioned in the Technavio Report is Urkund.

In all honesty, we haven't had time to do any research to see what it offers, but it seems like an interesting option over Turnitin.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for letting us know. Moving from Moodle Direct to Blackboard Learn, although I don’t liaise with the technical part now, I am surprised to see how many bugs and glitches the integration of Turnitin with Blackboard has.

It would be useful to know if any of the group members have heard of any product which could be used as an alternative to Turnitin .

Have anybody read the Technavio’s Report?

Hi all,

We’re currently on Moodle 3.1 and Turnitin Moodle Direct v2 at University of Malta. We've been using Moodle since 2009, and adopted Turnitin some 5-6 years ago.

Likewise, we've also had a never-ending list of issues with Turnitin; unstable releases, inconsistent match results, delayed or postponed fixes, topped with frustrating customer support.

While currently we do not have critical issues, there are still a few pending bugs... same old story eh. Though recently, we did decide to steer away from using Turnitin with Moodle Assignment since it's rather messy.

I'm just about to start looking into the LTI... hopefully that helps make life slightly better.

Incidentally, our Account Manager visited us this week to promote Feedback Studio, which product I kind of like at first glance. We'll wait and see what it brings about...

Feel free to contact us if you want to share TII experiences. We've got loads at this stage! =)

Regards,

Chris

Hi All,
I am seeing our Turnitin Account Manager next week and I have a number of integration questions for her.
I was just wondering how many other people on here are also Moodle admins? I don't get much of a sense of community and wonder whether I am in the wrong place or whether not many people use Turnitin as we do. I went to the Turnitin Summit last month but was frustrated that there weren't breakout sessions to meet other users in similar circumstance.

We are on Moodle 3.1 using Turnitin Direct v2 with Moodle Assignments (not Turnitin Assignments).
We are experiencing a number of frustrations but maybe others have already devised workarounds or solutions.

Just curious.
