Dear Jason,

Thank you for your timely message.

I represent UKAT (http://www.ukat.uk), the United Kingdom Advising and Tutoring group, a professional body of practitioners and researchers interested in all aspects of advising and personal tutoring in HE in the UK. You are right; many of our members are currently involved in projects in their institutions to revise their models of personal tutoring. We would warmly encourage any interested parties to engage with our membership to share practice and experiences.

UKAT has its next annual conference on 5-6 April 2017, with a theme of Making a Difference to Student Success – Inspiring Students Through Advising and Personal Tutoring. Details of the conference and a call for proposals can be found at http://www.ukat.uk/conference and we would very much welcome the contributions of any SEDA colleagues and those who attend your event.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend your event myself due to teaching commitments that day. I will endeavour to have a UKAT representative attend and, if you like, provide a presentation around the activities of UKAT and how we are supporting the development of tutoring and student support in the UK.

Kind regards,

David

Subject: Personal Tutoring: invitation to discussion meeting Nov 29

Dear SEDA folks

At UCL we are revisiting our models for personal tutoring and academic support more generally. With the advent of TEF it seems that a number of institutions might be looking at this and wondered if colleagues would be interested in attending a half day (29th November, 14.00-17.00) informal get together to share ideas and good practice. We will provide tea/coffee. If you would like to join us please register here.

If you would be willing to do a 10-15 minute presentation about the way academic support is being developed at your institution please email (Sam Smidt and/or Jason Davies -- by reply all).

If you'd like to attend please let us know so we can get appropriate numbers of biscuits, tea, coffee etc at:

This event is not 'searchable' (as I've found that attracts a lot of 'ghost' registrations in the past) but do please send this link to anyone you think might be interested.

Thanks
