One organisation I work for used to do spiro, vision and hearing.

They stopped doing the spiro as risk assessment didn’t identify that they were exposed to respiratory sensitisers.

Vision – They stopped doing this as lifeguards have regular operational competency assessments and this would identify any issues (plus there were no standards that could be applied for determining fitness).

Hearing – same as above.  It could never be determined whether noise levels in pools are over the exposure limits so they have a test only at pre-employment as a baseline for future reference.

I am looking at health assessments for life guards working in Swimming Pools.

Does anyone carry these out and if so what do you include in the assessment
