The Department of Media and Communication began as the Centre for Mass Communication Research (CMCR) at the University of Leicester in 1966 which has, since its establishment
in 1966, played a leading role nationally and internationally in all aspects of media and communications research.
The School has a large, dynamic and cosmopolitan post-graduate community working on various subjects ranging from cultural industries, traditional and new media to cultural sociology.
The School of Media, Communication and Sociology is a part of the communication and media pathway of the ESRC Midlands Graduate School doctoral training
