VLV CONFERENCE PROGRAMME UPDATE

as at 16 November 2016

VLV's 33rd Annual Autumn Conference - Back to the Future: what next for viewers and listeners? comes at a time when the way ahead for the BBC is becoming much clearer, whilst some serious questions remain.  It takes place on Wednesday 23 November 2016.

The VLV is delighted that BBC Director-General Lord Hall of Birkenhead will be the keynote speaker at the conference.  We will be able to hear his vision for the future BBC under its new RoyalCharter and have the opportunity to question Lord Hall on our issues of concern.  Torin Douglas will chair the session.

VLV President Dame Colette Bowe will chair the session looking at the future of Channel 4 with Dan Brooke, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Channel 4, joined by Steve Morrison, Rector, Edinburgh University and journalist and author Maggie Brown.

VLV's now traditional 'three wise people' panel includes Lord Inglewood, Lord Stevenson of Balmacara and Baroness Bonham-Carter of Yarnbury sharing their views on the ever-developing media landscape with Roger Bolton in the chair.

The final session will look at the latest issues around new technology and spectrum with Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Digital UK, Lindsey Clay, CEO of Thinkbox, and Mathew Horsman, Director, Mediatique and journalist Bill Thompson, chaired by Raymond Snoddy.

The conference will be followed by VLV’s Annual General Meeting – for members only.
