In the second of our series of events exploring the lives and careers of key black movie stars, we look at the legendary musicians who brought their talents - and enormous star power - to cinema. Through richly illustrated presentations, we'll explore how music stardom compare to film stardom - what opportunities does film offer, and what restrictions does it impose? We'll look at those who thrived in the film industry with those who struggled to translate their artistry to the big screen - and ask why. We'll also consider how we can consider the music video as a moving image genre that has been particularly fruitful for the most creative black music stars.
