italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear colleagues,
Please consider submitting an abstract for the following panel on the Compagnia delle poete for the SIS Biennal conference (University of Hull, 27-30 June 2017).

Title of the session: Compagnia delle poete: Transnational Poetry on Stage

As a group of nineteen female performance poets writing (mainly) in the Italian language, the Compagnia delle poete (http://www.compagniadellepoete.com/) combines different cultural and linguistic backgrounds with several forms of artistic expression, among which poetry, dance, music and visual arts. Their performances encourage a reflection on femininity, the body and physicality, processes of self-translation, as well as the presence of migration in contemporary theatre in Italy (Mauceri and Niccolai, 2015).
The aim of this panel is to investigate the Compagnia’s productions from different perspectives. We are particularly interested in exploring in what ways the individual work of each poeta interacts with the Compagnia’s productions, and to discuss these as an example of collective writing. Proposals from various disciplines are welcome, from mobility studies to women studies, from theatre and performance studies to literary analysis and translation studies.

Please send a 250-word abstract and title for a 20-minute paper, along with your audio-visual needs, a short bio, and contact details to [log in to unmask] by November 21st 2016.

Best wishes,

Gioia
