Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology, in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies at York University, invites applications for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Social Research Methods, preferably with a focus on quantitative methods, to commence July 1, 2017. Priority will be given to applicants who have knowledge of linear models and of a range of data collection and analysis techniques, including social surveys, together with experience in expanding and/or emerging areas of data collection, analysis, and investigation. The candidate's own research perspective should be critically engaged and theoretically informed, and have a focus in a substantive area, such as social inequality.

The successful candidate will show excellence or promise of excellence in scholarly research, teaching and service. The candidate will be expected to offer a range of courses as part of both the undergraduate and graduate curricula and eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. A PhD in Sociology or related field is required. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is an asset.
