Dear Hannah

I know of this organisation which supports victims of trafficking in Yorkshire, the North West and North East (to my knowledge, no operations in London or the South East at present):

Hi Hannah,
Two other organisations who have been very helpful in the past are:
Although the name may suggest otherwise, this group will help women from a range of ethnicities.

https://www.freedomfromtorture.org/ offer a very specialised, but exceptional, service for victims of torture

Although it is based in Croydon, I also believe that the Family Justice Centre offers help to victims of domestic abuse from outside the area.

Hope these help.
Best wishes,
Emma

Hi Hannah

I  have recently heard about this organisation

I have not had any dealings with them, on their
website they mention a wide range of services
including in relation to domestic violence and
trafficking.

Regards

Dominic

Thank you Leila for keeping us informed on what is a huge and important issue.

I would be interested to know what organisations are providing this help for ESOL students so we can refer students/ make them aware of these.

Last year I had a number of students who were affected by violence, coercion and mental health issues and would have liked to refer them to an organisation who can give support.

All the best

Hannah

Dear all,
Last night I attended the launch of Haringey Strategy to End Violence Against Women and Girls.
A small step in the right direction.
Whilst I think it's good for the council to have a 10 year plan. It needs to be the right plan. So glad I went and was the voice of ESOL Trans women and lesbians , stating that different communities had different needs. The councillor's response was I quote : 'we need to penetrate these communities' which he said 3 times!!
I challenged him on his use of language too. Ha!!
Positive outcomes though , links with organisations were made to join up and bid for funding for the above mentioned communities and set up language and well being provision for them.
Let me know if you know any pots currently open for tender please.
I would also be interested to hear from ESOL providers who have set up courses for survivors and victims of trafficking and or ESOL courses which support people with mild to severe mental health issues in terms of both content and funding

Thank you
