Hello

 

They are not allowed here at the University of Greenwich.  Extra time is the only adjustment.  I too would be interested in what happens elsewhere.  We have quite a few post registration  courses and students on these courses say they are common in clinical practice.

Subject: Use of Calculator

 

Dear All,

 

I have a query from a nursing student wanting to use a calculator during the Safe Medicate Exam (Drugs Calculations).  The student has a SpLD and will have 25% extra time.

 

Our regulations state that a calculator is not to be used during this exam, however the student has said that other institutions allow this.

 

I would be most grateful if you could let me know whether your institution does allow the use of a calculator during these exams, or if other provisions/adjustments are put in place.
