Dear All,

A reminder of the next RSS Leeds Bradford local group seminar on 16th November 2016 about the NHS in Numbers. The meeting will be held at Quarry House, Leeds from 3:30pm.

No registration is required and everyone is welcome, membership of RSS is not required to attend.

Andy Sutherland (Formerly NHS Health and Social Care Information Centre) and John Bates (Department of Health)

The NHS in numbers

The NHS is big, but how big? Discussions about our national health service are often informed by powerful news headlines featuring huge amounts of money or inconceivable amounts of harm or benefit to patients. How can the public put these huge numbers into context, and how can we as statisticians help in explaining what the NHS is, what it is not, and whether it is doing a good job? And what opportunities are there to delve into the statistical research and evidence, to see where we might improve things in the future?

The event will take place at 3.30pm on 16th November in the Department of Health building in Room 1W11, Quarry House, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7UE. (Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/T4ZArBQ49Tr)

NOTE: All are welcome to attend, but the size of the room limits places, so attendees will need to register interest on our Eventbrite site:
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/rss-group-nhs-in-numbers-tickets-28223815191

Once you've registered, those with Quarry House building passes can just make their own way to the room. External attendees are very welcome, but will need to be signed in at reception - we will leave a list of your names at reception and we will arrange to escort you to the room.
