I wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole because of all of the gunk floating around in Amniotic fluid that could be a potential interference

Subject: Amniotic Fluid TFTs

Dear Mailbase

We have been contacted by an obstetrician wanting to measure TSH and T4 (free or total) in amniotic fluid to guide the intrauterine treatment of a foetus with a goitre. The published literature suggests that the T4 and TSH in the amniotic fluid reflect foetal production and these measurements would be useful. Has anyone validated their TSH and/or T4 assays for use in amniotic fluid or know of anywhere that has? This request is a new one for us and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Nick
