At ADASS there was a very interesting talk from Chilean VO where they reported that they had integrated CUPID clump finding algorithms into a Jupyter IPython notebook.

Afterwards I spoke to the speaker and he had removed the A-task stuff and was calling the C code directly (using cython) and had written a AstKeyMap compatibility routine based on python dicts. That was a very surprising talk.

He asked me if there were any other "killer apps" in Starlink he should be integrating into the system. I pushed AST (he was getting a bit annoyed by astropy.wcs) and he will look at it again (especially for FITS header parsing) and I also suggested SMURF:FIT1D.
