Hi all

I wonder if anyone could help me. I have just finsihed the PGDip in Social Work, and I am trying to complete a dissertation based upon the role and identity of specialist social workers within the substance use field. I am hoping to explore what their contribution is, and the challenges of maintaining social work functions and values within a historically health-driven context. I was placed within an addiction team for my last placement, and worked with two great addiction specialist social workers who really inspired me to explore this particular area of social work.

As part of this research, I am looking to speak to social workers working within addiction teams. I contacted Sarah Galvani (Professor of Adult Social Care; Manchester Metropolitan University) and she suggested I post on this community in order to try and make contact with these social workers.

Do any of you fit this decription? If so are you willing to participate in my reasearch? Participating would involve completing a semi-structured interview with myself that would last no longer than a hour (if you are based near me- in Glasgow, I can travel to you, or we could organise a telephone/or Skype interview).

Your time and support would be greatly appreciated. If you are not yourself an addiction social worker, but know someone who is, I would greatly appreciate their contact details, with their permission.

If you are interested in participating or wish more details about the study, my contact details are as follows:
