medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Not to overlook Eugenius of Palermo's later twelfth-century invective in verse against a fly. It's no. 15 in Marcello Gigante, ed. and tr., _Eugenii Panormitani versus iambici_ (Palermo: Istituto Siciliano di Studi Bizantini e Neoellenici, 1964). Gigante
gives both the original Greek and a fluid Italian translation.
Best,
John Dillon

Thomas of Cantimpré, Bonum universale - De Apibus (completed between 1258 and 1263) might be interesting for you. Thomas explained the relationship between authorities and their subjects comparing it to a beehive.

Dear all,
I'm a 3rd year PhD student in the English department at Bristol working on modernism and entomology.
I've been approached by the editors of a new 6 part Bloomsbury Cultural History of Insects to write a chapter on insects in literature, with a particular focus on insects in medieval literature.
If you can think of any examples of insect imagery and symbolism or even just a passing reference to creepy crawlies in any medieval text, I'd love to hear from you!

Many thanks
