Subject: Call for Papers: Women in Irish Film: Stories and Storytellers
Extended deadline. Apologies for cross posting.
I am currently seeking abstracts for a proposed edited collection on women in film in Ireland. The book will explore the contribution and impact of women in Irish film and the Irish film industry – historical and contemporary perspectives. Areas of inquiry could include, but are not limited to: the work of specific female writer/directors; ‘authorship’; Irish female film crew in a male dominated workforce; aesthetics; questions of ‘voice’; representations in the work of Irish female writer/directors; industrial practices; the film production context; the cultural milieu.
Importantly, the focus here is on the Irish film industry and Irish women practitioners. There has been a dearth of published research in this area, a gap that this book aims to address. It is anticipated that it will make a valuable contribution to ongoing national and international debates on women’s contribution to filmmaking and the challenges, obstacles and exclusions women practitioners can face in a male dominated industry.
Please get in touch if you need any further information.
Submission of 300 word abstracts for consideration (with a short bio): Friday 11 November 2016.
Estimated timeframe for completed first draft: Mid 2017. 6, 000 – 7,000 words.
