Thank you to everyone who's shown an interest in joining the committee so far. There is still time to submit your nomination (just 10 days left to do so).

Also news just in is that we are looking to recruit a new Secretary for the committee to replace me. I am not actually leaving, but taking over the role of Treasurer and so the Secretary role is now vacant. I've honestly loved being secretary as it gives you a really good overview of the work of the committee and would recommend it as a role, particularly if you have broad interests. I'm available to chat further about what it involves, but have included some info below as a starter.

The Secretary is a member of the Executive team, working closely with the Chair and Treasurer.  There's lots of variety in the role, but some of what it entails includes:

·         Organising Committee Meetings  (two face to face and two teleconferences)

·         Taking Minutes

·         Assigning Tasks

·         Monitoring and managing Memberships

·         Assisting with events as appropriate

·         Assisting the Chair with day to day responsibilities

·         Administration

·         Assisting the Chair with the AGM: announcements, committee vacancies and nominations, compiling reports, writing reports etc.

Nominations for this, or for general committee roles, should be sent to secretary@museumscomputergroup.org.uk by midday on 18 October 2016. Please include your contact details, an indication of which role(s) you’re interested in, and a brief biography (for previous examples, check out the current Committee bios). Self-nominations are welcome.

With only 33 days to go until our Museums + Tech 2016 conference, it’s the perfect time to throw open our call for nominations for new MCG committee members.

Joining the MCG Committee is a great way to support your peers and help the sector. It’s also an opportunity to meet people, gain valuable skills and experience, and enhance your CV. We’re an active group, putting together events and projects that have a real impact on the heritage sector. If you are motivated to help and have a few hours free each month, please get in touch!

This year we are seeking candidates for three vacancies on the Committee ahead of the MCG Annual General Meeting on 19 October 2016. Terms are for three years, with an option to seek re-election for a second term. One of these roles, Treasurer, is part of the Executive and works closely with the Chair. The other areas of responsibility we’re recruiting for include:

Marketing – working with the Events and Communications teams, you’ll help plan and run the marketing and outreach campaigns for our events and other work

Event organisation – ideal for someone who wants to take the lead as event manager, or learn the ropes by helping put on our next events

Sponsorship and fundraising – liaise with past and potential sponsors, work with the Events team to manage our sponsorship offers or establish partnerships.

You can find more information about the roles and the process on the MCG website, or by emailing our Chair, Mia Ridge, at [log in to unmask]org.uk.
