*Apologies for cross posting* Join us on a Library Safari CILIP South West Members Network would like to invite you to a ‘Library Safari’ tour. Library Safaris are being arranged in the following locations, with other locations being explored for next year: • Weston Super Mare • Gloucestershire • Chippenham • Dorset This event is aimed at those new to library and information work, considering library careers or wanting to find out more about the information professions. By the end of the day you will have: * An improved understanding of library and information work, and the options available * Awareness of qualifications and routes to professional registration * Awareness of typical library roles and workplaces and the variety of different kinds of information work Booking is now open for the following Safari Tours: 25 October in Weston Super Mare The Weston Super Mare safari will include visits to (TBC): • North Somerset Healthcare Library, Weston General Hospital • Weston College University Campus (arts, music and a-levels) • Weston Library/Town Hall Gateway (shared space with public library, police front desk and Council provided services) • Weston College Knightstone Campus (further education provision) Cost: free of charge. Cost: free of charge. Please note that whilst the event is offered free of charge, there may be a cost for transport (e.g. shared taxi) between sites. Parking at both sites is very limited. Lunch is not provided but there are facilities on the Francis Close Hall site to purchase lunch. Free parking is available at the Centre. • Wiltshire College Learning Resources Centre • Chippenham Public Library.. Cost: free of charge. Lunch is not provided but you will be walking through the town centre where there are plenty of opportunities to purchase food and drink. Please note: The History Centre and College are very close to each other. The group will walk to the Public Library, this is about a 20 minute walk involving steep hills (uphill and downhill both ways). If anyone has accessibility issues please let us know in the order form and we'll ensure they can get between the venues.
