Hi Sarah,
The terms in the audit relate to the broader themes of the Introductions to Heritage Assets and Designation Selection Guides. Hence the disparity with the thesaurus.

I am in the process of compiling a spreadsheet which lists the Monument Types identified in each of the IHAs, DSGs and, indeed, old MCDs, but as you can imagine this is a bit of a task..

Is there a process by which designation teams make use of the Monument Thesaurus when compiling entries and/or submit new terms as they do so? When doing my HER audit recently I was given a list of Monument Types to assess my area’s coverage which did not match the Monument Thesaurus but which I believe came from designation activities. It struck me then that a closer relationship between those doing the investigations and what things are classified as would be beneficial.

Best wishes

Hi all,
As the list entry says this is a rare survival of a short-lived type of cemetery building.

As such we’re adding it to the thesaurus as RECEPTION HOUSE with a non-preferred term of Receiving House.

Hi

Does anyone have any idea what the monument term for a Reception/Receiving House is?

I’ve got a 19th century on in a cemetery which has just been listed and nothing in the Thesaurus fits.

Thanks

Mel
