I could do with a bit of advise on these lines too.

I have my insurance with Markeldirect and it is very reasonable, so much so I'm worried it's not valid.

I work as a freelance educator meaning I go into museums and schools and deliver education workshops. I don't use anything more than costumes and museum objects.
The best they could put me down under was tutor/teacher. Which they were happy with when I explained my job. However having read this thread, and spoken to other freelancers I'm starting to get concerned that I might not be covered correctly, especially as others pay lots more than I do.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi

I use Simply Business too. At the moment I just have Public Liability through them which seems reasonable enough but I have recently had a quote to add Professional Indemnity too which adds a fair amount. I would suggest checking what you actually need.

All best wishes

Claire

I do mine through Simply Business. The issue you will come up against is that your job title wont appear in any of their lists. Because I do a variety of different heritage-based roles it was a bit of a trial but they sorted it for me. You will need to make sure you are registered in the correct role and not the nearest fit as this may invalidate any insurance.

Hello everyone

Looking for a bit of advice for Professional indemnity and also Public liability insurance for evaluation and consultancy work in heritage and arts sectors. It also needs to cover freelance museum learning sessions and creating resources for use in schools and museums.

* I've been looking at Hiscox as specialist insurers, does anyone have experience of using them or a similar insurer for a second quote?

* Anything to be careful of before purchasing, specific to the sector?

Thanks!
