Our teaching staff have always run controlled assessments following the ‘rules’ we give them. The give us timetables of when they’re happening and we do spot checks. Works OK .. so far!
Enjoy the long and liquid lunch!
Best wishes

Hi Marjanne
Thank you for getting back to me and you obviously work the way we have for the past few years and follow my ‘better to be safe than sorry’ motto.
I looked at the JCQ regs and couldn’t find a definitive answer so eventually rang the board. Apparently they do not have to be run by External Invigilators, they can be invigilated by the Teachers. Seems the
Workforce Reform with Teachers not invigilating doesn’t apply to controlled assessments – still it saves my budget somewhat!
I am now going off for a very long and liquid lunch as I will have so much time on my hands not having to organise the controlled assessments – which were a nightmare anyway.
Thanks again for your help
Regards
Anna

Hi Anna
We have never done Controlled Assessments but with other boards we have had assessment which required high levels of security. Whenever high is mentioned SLT and the exams office go for external invigilators
and exam settings, just to avoid any possible doubt.
Hope this helps.

Subject: levels of controlled assessment
Hi
Can anyone give their understanding of High Control for Controlled Assessment as I am tearing my hair out here with frustration
For the past few years (at least 4) we have done this in a venue with Invigilators, but I have just found out, indirectly and not from the Head of Department who is currently ignoring all my emails asking for clarification, that they are
going to do their writing assessments for MFL under teacher supervision. Is this OK to do it this way? Were we over the top historically by putting them in exam halls with Invigilators?
Thank you for your help
Anna
