Research Fellow

Salary Range    £41,709 - £48,327

HEHTA is currently recruiting a Research Fellow to act as the principal researcher in an exciting new MRC funded project to develop a fully Bayesian framework for the identification and estimation of subgroup effects in Randomised Controlled Trials [“The MRC Project”]. Subgroup analyses underpin personalised medicine. However, there is the fundamental problem of multiplicity which can lead to biased and over-precise estimates of effectiveness in subgroups and to falsely identified subgroups effects. This can lead to individual patients suffering harm, and the waste of scarce resources on ineffective treatments and futile confirmatory trials. In this project we will develop a framework for subgroup analysis. This fully Bayesian framework will comprise hierarchical modelling and random effects providing shrinkage effects and the expert elicitation of prior beliefs regarding subgroup effects. This is an opportunity for a researcher to contribute to an important project and refine technical experience and project management skills.
