This Saturday discover the history of cinema at the Royal Albert Hall, from its very first screening in 1895, up to present day live orchestral movie events in Europe's largest cinema in this special talk by the Hall’s Archivists, Liz Harper and Suzanne Keyte.

With film clips and treasures from the Hall's archive on display, we look at the first religious blockbuster 'From the Manger to the Cross' (1912), which was so controversial it led to the establishment of the British Board of Film Censors (BBFC).

Other highlights include the film which made a British hero of Lawrence of Arabia; the 'Adult Only' 'Queen of Sheba' (1922) starring the first actress nude on film, Betty Blythe; and Director Fritz Lang's 'The Nibelungs' (1919).

Ticket includes free tea or coffee. Please visit: http://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2016/royal-albert-hall-and-the-silver-screen

This talk is part of the Royal Albert Hall’s inaugural Festival of Film.
