The School of Mathematics & Statistics is seeking to make a professorial appointment to strengthen the research base in spatial statistical and analytical methodology and contribute to collaborative research. The post has arisen as part of a new £2m spatial analysis and modelling cross-faculty initiative  ( http://www.ncl.ac.uk/sam/  ), which is also funding and supporting concurrent new chairs in geospatial systems engineering, geographical analysis and urban data analysis. These appointments will add to the wide network of researchers already active in Newcastle in the research areas.  

 The post is open to candidates with experience of any area of spatial statistical modelling, including but not limited to climate, environment, epidemiology and extremes.  Applicants should have an outstanding record of research, preferably with a blend of theory and practice, together with a track record of successful research supervisions and income generation.
