Dear All

Registration is now open for Future Directions in Network Mathematics<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ini-satellite-workshop-future-directions-in-network-mathematics-registration-28522131463>, the Satellite Workshop associated with the ongoing Isaac Newton Institute programme on Theoretical Foundations for Statistical Network Analysis<https://www.newton.ac.uk/event/sna>. The Satellite Workshop will take place at the Royal Society, Carlton House Terrace, London, UK on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd November 2016. Further details are below. Spaces are limited so pleaseregister<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ini-satellite-workshop-future-directions-in-network-mathematics-registration-28522131463> soon!

Organisers: Mohamed Ali Belabbas (U. Illinois, USA), Sofia Olhede (UCL, UK), Patrick Wolfe (UCL, UK)

Summary: A deep understanding of graphs and networks takes inspiration from many different branches of mathematics, ranging from discrete mathematics, spectral methods and optimization through to geometry and topology. This workshop aims to bring various of these areas together in order both to interface with mathematical statistics, and to anticipate rich future areas of cross-fertilisation. Each of the sessions over the two days will contain 2-3 talks, with all talks aimed to be accessible to a general mathematics audience. Plenty of time will be left on both days for convivial scientific discussion amongst the attendees.

Special sessions include:
• Distributed optimization and control of networks
• Topology and networks

• Random Matrices and Graphs

Speakers include: Matthew Kahle (Ohio State, USA), Yuliy Baryshnikov (U. Illinois, USA), Pavel Dlotko (Inria), Steve Morse (Yale, USA), Angelia Nedich (U. Illinois, USA), Anders Rantzer (Lund University, Sweden), Julien Hendrickx (UC Louvain, Belgium) and Svante Janson (Uppsala University, Sweden). Additional speakers will be listed on the event page<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ini-satellite-workshop-future-directions-in-network-mathematics-registration-28522131463> as they are confirmed, and a fuller agenda will be published closer to the time.

Registration: Please register via Eventbrite<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ini-satellite-workshop-future-directions-in-network-mathematics-registration-28522131463>. Registration costs £45 which grants admission to both days of the workshop, and includes lunch and daytime refreshments.
