HI John,

We have recently achieved UKAS accreditation for our urine meters, gas machines, HbA1c meters and glucose & ketone meters. I agree with the responses from other regarding verification. In addition to the verification already mentioned, we performed comparisons between the lab and POCT devices (where possible) and comparison between POCT devices using patient samples, to demonstrate comparability between devices.

Feel free to contact us if you want any further information.

Kind regards

Sarah

Dear POCT’ers

Have any sites with ISO accreditation or perhaps working towards, undertaken a verification exercise for new equipment?

I can see how the guideline widely applied for laboratory equipment (ACB spreadsheet or CLSI EP15-A2) can be performed for an individual analyser or meter – but extending this to the implementation or replacement of say 20 gas analysers or hundreds of glucose meters would be some undertaking.  It would be great if anyone has a protocol or perhaps feedback from inspection they can share.

Kind Regards

John
