Dear Colleagues,

The October issue of Sociology<http://soc.sagepub.com/content/early/2016/08/27/0038038516651238.full.pdf+html> is a special edition that marks both 50 volumes and 50 years of the journal. It’s wide-ranging content<http://soc.sagepub.com/site/special-issues/Bringing-it-Home.xhtml> considers the developing story of sociology as both a disciplinary and intellectual pursuit, and charts how the practice of sociology has ‘spun out’ beyond the dedicated departments that were once the centers of sociological practice. Contributors<http://soc.sagepub.com/site/special-issues/Bringing-it-Home.xhtml> discuss the implications of interdisciplinary connections between sociology and: criminology; environmental science; creative industry studies; social and cultural theory; social policy; methodologies; cultural studies; human geography; and the study of work and employment.

To mark its publication please join us on Friday 18 November 2016, 6-9pm Hallam Conference Centre, London. Our discussants will include Sarah Burton, John Goodwin, Angela McRobbie, Laura Piacentini and Divya P Tolia-Kelly.

Colleagues can register here<https://portal.britsoc.co.uk/public/event/eventBooking.aspx?id=EVT10597> and the journal has provided open access to the introduction<http://soc.sagepub.com/content/early/2016/08/27/0038038516651238.full.pdf+html>.

Best wishes,
Nasar
