when calculating a two-sample t-test with SPM, one normally uses the contrast maps from the 1st level analysis as input. Is this also necessary when using a tool for calculating a two sample t-test with permutations e.g. Palm? In other words, is it necessary to input the contrast maps or the t-maps or would there be no difference between both types of maps in the case of using permutations?
