The School of Arts & Creative Industries is looking for a post-doctoral research fellow to work in our Centre for the Study of the Networked Image (CSNI). The post starts as soon as possible on a 0.4 (two days per week) fixed term contract until July 31 2017.

The CSNI brings together a group of researchers who are seeking new knowledge and understanding of how computational culture is changing the production and reception of art and photography.

The research programme is supervised by Professor Andrew Dewdney, Associate Professor Annet Dekker, and Katrina Sluis, Senior Lecturer and Curator of the Digital Programme at The Photographers’ Gallery London.

We are looking for someone whose has either recently completed a PhD in a relevant field, or a professional in the field of art, photography and digital media with experience of theory, policy and practice. In particular we are interested in exploring external collaborative opportunities presented by online platforms, as well as developing new understandings of the agency of the screen image and economic and social organisation of software.

The post would ideally suit someone who is already working part-time in a cultural organisation and/or someone who is interested in gaining experience of learning and teaching in the Higher Education sector. The person appointed will have a higher degree in a relevant Arts and Humanities subject. It will involve support for funding applications, conference organisation and PhD research group coordination.

For an informal discussion, please contact Professor Andrew Dewdney.

The closing date for applications is 21 October.
