Dear Colleagues,
please consider the following session for the AAIS/CSIS Conference, which will take place at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, on April, 20-22 2017:
For a Mediterranean Ecocriticism: Strengths and Contributions
Organizers: Monica Seger (The College of William & Mary) and Enrico Cesaretti (University of Virginia)
Building on dynamic conversations from last year's AAIS conference, this session invites papers that examine the contributions an Italian or, more broadly, Mediterranean ecocriticism makes to the Environmental Humanities at large. We are particularly interested in papers grounded in specifics of place and matter as much as aesthetic or philosophical traditions. We seek to explore the ways in which a still unfolding Mediterranean ecocriticism might intersect with, contradict or motivate current transnational debate on topics including but not limited to:
- fossil fuel consumption
- ecomaterialism
- ecofeminism
- the Anthropocene (…and the Chthulucene, the Capitalocene, the Plantationocene, etc.)
- econarratology
- biodiversity
- ecomedia studies
- posthumanism and multispecies studies
Our joint conference, AAIS and CSIS, will take place in Columbus, Ohio, from April 20th to April 22nd, 2017.
