Jo is also excellent at ensuring that when outside professionals were brought in for a project they were paid a fair rate!
Likewise I don't see this as presuming"that other people will come up with the ideas", surely the whole point of this GEM e-group is among other things to share best practice and learn from each others ideas ? GEM.has so many different disciplines and members from.different backgrounds that surely its great to learn from that?, for example, suggestions like myself and "History Needs You" whose background is Live Interpretation may differ from someone whose background is education in the school system or a musician or an artist - all their suggestions are surely valid and just represent the wealth of skills available in the Museum and Heritage sector and may well lead to a booking for one or more of them. Which is good news surely?

PS One of my suggestions was a "Cavaliers V Roundheads Easter Egg hunt!" History and chocolate!!

This in my view, is one of the reasons for the group. Asking for ideas should not automatically be assumed to be for lack of effort, we all started off inexperienced and benefitted from the advice of others who gave this selflessly. If anyone doesn't want to share ideas for whatever reason, such as justifiably wanting to try them out first, well just don't. If stakeholder engagement is identified as the best way forward, then suggest doing so and if you have the benefit of experience, propose the best way to go about it. No need to drag anyone over the coals just for asking for ideas.
That's my opinion.

Darren

Simplicity and easiness are the reasons for the early planning, therefore, internal brainstorming seems the best strategy than relying on others who have yet to think about their own museum plans.
This is my opinion.

Shouldn't this be an internal team exercise? - an opportunity for your own collleagues and volunteers to make contributions rather than relying on staff and volunteers who don't work for your museum and might want to use their own ideas first before sharing? There's a chance for professional development.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Yes I know Easter is not until next April. However we are already planning our publicity for the next few months and Easter will feature in it. So I need to think about ideas for engaging and creative activities exploring the traditions of the British Easter. Any ideas? Our ideal age range is 6+ yrs if that helps.
We normally combine our activities with a presentation of some kind and I need to keep it simple.
