The Urban Resilience Research Network
<http://www.urbanresilienceresearch.net/> has just published after the
summer break a new essay in its Viewpoints section.
Prof. Stefan Bouzarovski (University of Manchester), argues through his
essay titled '*Rethinking Everyday Resilience in the Built Environment of
the City*' that resilience can be connected to the notion of ‘retrofit’ by
exploring the role of bottom-up and do-it-yourself forms of urbanism, and
their contribution to city resilience and sustainability. He finally calls
for "*a deeper understanding of the diverse mechanisms through which
residential buildings and people may embody complex processes of adaptation*
”
