Department of Molecular and Cell Biology 

The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley is soliciting applications for a faculty position in the field of Cryo-Electron Microscopy at the level of Assistant Professor (tenure track). The expected start date is July 1, 2017. 

We seek applicants that are using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) as a major structural biology tool towards the mechanistic understanding of important biological processes. The ideal candidate would be someone that can be considered an expert in the use of state-of-the-art cryo-EM methodology and that is applying cryo-EM, in combination with biochemical and/or biophysical approaches, to gain insight into the molecular workings of an important biological system. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: nucleic acid transactions, membrane proteins or signaling complexes. 

We seek candidates that have demonstrated excellence, originality and productivity in research. A Ph.D. and/or M.D. or equivalent degree in Biophysics or a related field is required at the time of application.
