Two postdoc positions are available at the University of Minnesota, USA, Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics, in the research group of Mikael Elias (http://www.eliaslab.org/ ).

1. The first project scope relate to the cellular phosphate and phosphonate uptake mechanisms, a very central cellular mechanism that modulates numerous cellular responses, from quorum sensing to bacterial virulence. The project will involve a significant variety of methods, including state-of-the-art molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology and bioinformatics.

2. The second project focuses on the molecular characterization, engineering of quorum quenching enzymes and the measurement of their activity on bacterial quorum sensing. The project will involve molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology and microbiology.

Fellows will join a highly stimulating environment, working in the BioTechnology Institute, and will have outstanding opportunities on a research projects with numerous possible applications. The candidates should hold a PhD thesis in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, Structural Biology or related areas. The fellows are expected to be passionate and skilled molecular biologists and biochemists. Microbiology is a plus for the second post.
