Dear all,

Today we are launching our virtual exhibition 'Alice to Alice: Dalziel 1865 - 1871', which can be found at the new Dalziel project website: www.sussex.ac.uk/english/dalziel. Please visit and share!

The exhibition includes around 200 wood engravings by the Brothers Dalziel, the engravers who made the much loved illustrations (after John Tenniel) for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. The exhibition looks at all the other things the Dalziel Brothers were making in the years bookended by the two Alice books, including everything from veterinary images of calf foetuses, to Dickens illustrations, to bizarre cartoons and industrial designs. It is part of a project on the Dalziel Archive in the British Museum, funded by the AHRC. The exhibition is curated by Bethan Stevens, with curatorial assistance and web design by George Mind.

We hope you enjoy it!

All best wishes,

Bethan and George
