Outcome measurement and valuation for HTA

A new online CPD course is being offered by HEHTA from September 2016. ‘Outcome measurement and valuation for HTA’ is currently run as a course on our MSc
in HTA programme, and from 19th September to 21st October 2016 it will also be run as a non-accredited CPD course.
This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of outcome measurement and valuation for the purposes of Health Technology Assessment. This course will familiarise
students with the application of economic theory to the measurement and valuation of outcomes for all types of economic evaluation framework as well as the practical steps involved. This course is delivered by
HEHTA researchers with the addition of a guest lecture by Professor Julie Ratcliffe of Flinders Health Economics Group, Adelaide.
The course is structured as follows:
Week 1 Why measure outcomes in HTA?
Week 2 Preference based outcomes for economic evaluation and HTA more broadly
Week 3 Recent developments in preference based outcomes for children and older people
Week 4 Case study: Measuring outcomes in Parkinson’s
Week 5 Health Outcomes in a global health context: Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs)
