I leave the MRC in September (to start as the Executive Officer for Public Engagement, and Manager of the Centre for Public Engagement at QMUL), and the advert for my replacement is now live! The deadline for applications is 5th September.
"A fantastic opportunity for an experienced and creative Partnership Communications Manager to work with and support scientists and others who are planning to engage the public with their research.
Working within the MRC Communications division, you will build relationships with a wide range of individuals in MRC research establishments, helping them to shape, deliver and evaluate their public engagement and communications strategies and activities.
Main duties / key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
· nurturing relationships with colleagues and stakeholders in MRC establishments and partner organisations through regular contact and visits
· providing professional communications and engagement advice, particularly in relation to the development and implementation of MRC establishment communication and engagement strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with MRC strategy
· coordinating the MRC’s annual citizen science/public participation project
· identifying and signposting public engagement opportunities, resources, training and support available to MRC researchers, and helping deliver the MRC’s public engagement seed-funding award scheme
· assessing the public engagement and communication outputs of MRC establishments.
Frequent UK travel including some overnight stays is required. The proposed location for this post is MRC Head Office in London, but other base locations may be considered."
