Dear all,

This community is truly amazing! We have been genuinely overwhelmed by the engagement in the eBook accessibility audit<https://www.kent.ac.uk/studentsupport/accessibility/ebookaudit.html> and wanted to let you all know how great you are.

Together we have crowdsourced an extremely powerful dataset that has the potential to influence the future development of eBook platform accessibility and help to understand what accessibility looks like to guide procurement decision-making.

In the past few days we have had lots of colleagues asking for a little more time to complete their submissions and, in order that the dataset is the best that it can be, we are extending the date by which responses can be submitted to Friday 9th September.

We very nearly have a full house of first university testing owners for each platform but have a few gaps for second testers. It would be wonderful if we can have one final push as a community to plug any gaps that remain on the eBook accessibility audit signup sheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UofqQMWpLBNXwEKaCDxuMT652w5bJ0GZLrJSAIV0IhU/edit#gid=1413833512> and complete any outstanding audits:

* If you have signed up to do an audit but haven't yet found the time, please do your best to complete the audit by the new date of Friday 9th September.

* If you have already audited two platforms but would like to do another then please feel free to do so (and engage other colleagues within your organisation to help if you can persuade them) :)

The Publisher's Association are very much on board with the audit and we feel that we have a unique opportunity, as a community and sector, to make a real and lasting change to the way that accessibility in eBooks is understood and manifested.

More information about the audit can be found on the project web pages<https://www.kent.ac.uk/studentsupport/accessibility/ebookaudit.html>. Please see below for support available to you whilst completing the audit:

Subject: eBook accessibility audit

Dear all,

We are very nearly there in terms of getting all of the platforms tested. We are extremely grateful to everyone for their help and commitment so far and just need a few more volunteers to be the second testers and we will have covered all of the key platforms.

The eBook accessibility audit is a "non-technical" accessibility survey restricted to things that can be quickly and easily checked by a non-specialist. The key thing the project is trying to achieve is to make the accessibility features in any platform as transparent as possible and help us to benchmark accessibility in eBook platforms.

Please sign up using the eBook accessibility audit signup sheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UofqQMWpLBNXwEKaCDxuMT652w5bJ0GZLrJSAIV0IhU/edit#gid=1413833512>. If you don't feel able to commit to testing two different platforms, then you can just sign up to one. Once you have signed up, please begin auditing your platforms and completing the audit form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd3CNbXwhrdFDFYNV_Z2QKoqsghlmcb5So-Yq0fviLHoLJ7pA/viewform>. We are hoping to have the audit completed by the end of August but if this will be a problem for anyone please let us know.

More information about the audit can be found on the project web pages<https://www.kent.ac.uk/studentsupport/accessibility/ebookaudit.html>. Please see below for support available to you whilst completing the audit:

Thanks again for taking part.

Subject: eBook accessibility audit (UK Higher Education) request for help

Dear all,

You may be aware that a collaborative eBook accessibility project is currently underway across UK Higher Education Institution (HEI) disability and library services. The eBook accessibility audit<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd3CNbXwhrdFDFYNV_Z2QKoqsghlmcb5So-Yq0fviLHoLJ7pA/viewform> seeks to benchmark accessibility in eBook platforms by focussing on key areas of practical user experience to measure basic accessibility functionality and guide targeted platform improvement. The audit is a "non-technical" accessibility survey restricted to things that can be quickly and easily checked by a non-specialist. The audit focuses on eBooks supplied to the education sector in the United Kingdom (rather than books for mainstream commercial consumption e.g. popular fiction). The key thing the project is trying to achieve is to make the accessibility features in any platform as transparent as possible. More information can be found on the project web pages<https://www.kent.ac.uk/studentsupport/accessibility/ebookaudit.html>.

We are looking for people to volunteer to test eBook platforms and you have until the end of August to sign up. Please sign up using the eBook accessibility audit signup sheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UofqQMWpLBNXwEKaCDxuMT652w5bJ0GZLrJSAIV0IhU/edit#gid=1413833512>.
