Good morning All,
The survey below was sent to the WAC-list last week. (Apologies to those of you who have already received it). As I completed it I was thinking that getting some data from outside the US would probably strengthen the study. As I know some of you are involved in STEM-related writing support of various kinds, I’m hoping you might find the few minutes it takes to fill it in.

Other than that – enjoy summer!

Magnus

Ämne: Writing in the Sciences Survey

Greetings all,

Do you or someone you know have a background in any English-related field (Rhet-Comp, Literature, etc.) and work with students in a course or courses geared towards helping students write in STEM professions? I'd greatly appreciate it if you took just a few minutes to consider completing my IRB-approved survey detailed below. Have a fantastic rest of your Thursday:

Dear Instructor,

This is an invitation to participate in a survey for instructors of courses dedicated to Writing in the Sciences. Justin Atwell, a PhD Candidate at North Dakota State University, is conducting this survey. The purpose of this study is to better understand the attitudes, expectations, and experiences of students in diverse STEM fields entering and exiting the Writing in the Sciences classroom as well as instructor behaviors, assignments, and texts used in such courses. By completing this study, we aim to improve writing instruction at the college level.

Participation in this survey is voluntary. Your responses will be combined and reported with other participants’ responses, and no individual identifying information will be required for participation or reported.

Your honest and complete answers are appreciated and will help ensure that researchers gain data representative of students and instructors in the Writing in the Sciences classroom. This survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

If you have additional questions before or after your participation, please e-mail Justin Atwell at [log in to unmask] If the link provided does not function properly, please copy the link and paste into your web address bar.

If you choose to participate in the study, please click the following link (https://ndstate.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_cvdlQwJGGTjPOyV)to provide informed consent and complete the survey.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
