Many of you will already be aware of this but if not, there is a demonstration outside of Yarl's Wood "Immigration Removal Centre" on Saturday 10 September.

The demo (the third of its kind) is organised by Movement for Justice. MfJ are working to link the fight against dehumanising border regimes with anti-racist struggle as an intersectional whole. The movement gives centre stage to people - starting with refugees, asylum seekers, and the "undocumented" - whose place on UK soil is rendered insecure by racism and racist state policies.

Yarl's Wood is one of largest detention centres in the UK, run by a private company, near Bedford. Like other facilities of its kind around the world (see the recent "Nauru files" in Australia), it inflicts tremendous violence - mental, physical - on detainees, who are sent in arbitrarily, have no idea if/when they will leave, and often have to fight with teeth, nails and blood against forced deportation.

The demonstration is a show of solidarity with detainees (whom MfJ also liaises with), a call to shut down detention centres immediately, and a signal to the Theresa May Government that it will not be able to pursue its racist immigration policy without encountering the strongest of resistance.

Please consider coming along for support, or donating towards the logistics of the demonstration. There are coaches organised to reach Yarl's Wood from London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Coventry at the moment, with possibility of organising one from Bristol - and anywhere people can get together as a group. You can also take the train to Bedford and coaches will be set up to take you to Yarl's Wood. Find details about the demo and booking coach tickets here: http://conta.cc/2b3owNG

In solidarity,
Fabien
