Dear all,

I wondered if anyone could offer opinions on the identification of this 'creature' depicted on a Roman pottery fragment recovered during excavations at Saighton Camp near Chester?

We initially thought insect, but have now considered some sort of deer/antelope type animal.

Any suggestions and ideas welcome!

With thanks and best wishes, Hannah
