This is very interesting. You may know that Lankelly Chase Foundation is currently involved in a similar initiative around mental health ethnicity. It might be worthwhile getting in touch with Cathy Stancer - [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> .

Hi all

I’m currently being funded by the National Institute for Health Research as a Knowledge Mobilisation Research Fellow, looking at mobilising knowledge about ethnicity and health. To put it simply, knowledge mobilisation is about closing the gap between what we know and what we do. In a health context, it aims to make sure that research evidence and other types of knowledge lead to benefits for patients and populations. I’m learning about how to make sure that what we know about the health inequalities linked to ethnicity leads to action. I hope that those of us advocating for race equality can become more effective by creating and then mobilising knowledge, by making better use of evidence.

You can find out more on the website: www.eeic.org.uk <http://www.eeic.org.uk>

I am now blogging about my work here: http://bit.ly/LynnesBlog

I am also establishing a community of practice for anyone interested in mobilising knowledge about ethnicity and health. Details are available in my most recent blog post and here: http://bit.ly/LynnesCoP The aim is to learn together and develop effective practice in moving knowledge to action to reduce ethnic health inequalities. We will probably mostly interact online and I hope to make it relevant for knowledge creators, knowledge brokers and knowledge users. So do please contact me if you’re interested in joining or want to find out more.

Finally my most recent blog post is about a briefing paper which describes how approaching an equality impact assessment as a knowledge mobilisation process can help to make them more effective. The paper is available here http://bit.ly/BriefingPaper4

Best Wishes
