Hi,

We have just released a couple of dates for introductory workshops for understanding health research with a midwifery emphasis. This will be run by the NIHR CLAHRC (http://clahrc-peninsula.nihr.ac.uk/) and their role is very much about applied research and assisting healthcare professionals to get involved.

If you are interested, it's free to register and there is one in Exeter on the 15th of August
https://www.rcm.org.uk/get-involved/events/better-births-workshop-making-sense-of-health-research

and in Plymouth on the 21st of September
https://www.rcm.org.uk/get-involved/events/better-births-workshop-making-sense-of-health-research-0

This will give you a flavour of what is happening in the South West and also where to get support. The PenCLAHRC team also invites ideas from healthcare professionals, service users and stakeholders on what they should develop further for research/research reviews (http://clahrc-peninsula.nihr.ac.uk/submit-a-question)http://clahrc-peninsula.nihr.ac.uk/submit-a-question and you can be involved in the process if the idea is taken forward.

Also, you may be interested in putting forward your own project as a team or with colleagues. There is an introductory presentation by Julie Hapeshi on NIHR funding and the type of support you can have (http://betterbirths.rcm.org.uk/resources/getting-help-for-research-in-the-nhs/).

Please do contact me directly if you have any specific questions as you start this process or if you would like the opportunity to talk to some research midwives about how they got started.

Best Wishes
Rupa

Subject: Finding new studies advice please

Hi,

We are two research midwives based down in Cornwall, new in post and very keen to get involved in midwifery research. We are aware of the UK trials database, but would appreciate any other suggestions re. finding out about other opportunities to participate in studies.

Thankyou!

Evony
