Did you coin the concept, or is it more established? Either way, it would be very useful to have more perspective on it, as it seems to correspond to a fairly widespread problem in teaching the Middle Ages in the early 21st century.Cheers,Jim

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and cultureI would nominate Chadwick's translation (Oxford) as one of the best. I teach Confessions every semester in a sophomore seminar required of all university students (all majors) here at SHU and his version has been the most successful with students (most of them typically presentist, pragmatic and professionally-oriented American young adults).********************************************************************** To join the list, send the message: subscribe medieval-religion YOUR NAME to: [log in to unmask] To send a message to the list, address it to: [log in to unmask] To leave the list, send the message: unsubscribe medieval-religion to: [log in to unmask] In order to report problems or to contact the list's owners, write to: [log in to unmask] For further information, visit our web site: http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/medieval-religion

Subject: [M-R] Readable version of Augustine's confessions
medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and cultureIs there a 'best', readable version of Augustine's Confessions that anyone would recommend? I'm considering buying one for my son, a philosophy graduate who professes only to be interested in modern philosophy.Thank you,RosemaryDr RCE Hayes
